The Problem
The Problem
As work processes become more dynamic and digital, managing employee hours and reporting requires a system that replaces scattered tools and ensures clarity, structure, and trust on both sides.
As work processes become more dynamic and digital, managing employee hours and reporting requires a system that replaces scattered tools and ensures clarity, structure, and trust on both sides.
My Solution
MoneyTime replaces fragmented reporting tools with one streamlined platform that brings structure and transparency to time tracking. The system allows employees to log hours, request changes, upload documents, and check salary details—all within a single interface. Built with flexibility in mind, the platform supports both routine entries and exceptions, such as late reports or missing statuses. For managers, it centralizes requests, highlights inconsistencies, and provides a clear monthly summary—supporting oversight without micromanagement. By combining clarity, structure, and user control, the system fosters trust and accountability on both sides.

Research Insights
Throughout our research, users shared a range of frustrations with existing time-reporting systems especially when it came to clarity, usability, and trust in the data.
A third of users who were dissatisfied with their current system said they found it difficult to track how many hours they had worked. Without a clear overview of their total hours, users reported feeling uncertain about whether their reports were accurate.
When users encountered friction, many chose to bypass the system altogether. Over 80% reported abandoning a task due to unclear flows or unnecessary complexity. This pattern repeated in interviews, especially around non-routine actions like requesting leave or uploading documents—tasks that were described as confusing.
Most user errors were related to logging incorrect work hours: 50.4% had entered the wrong time at least once, these were often unintentional mistakes such as forgotten entries, mis-clicks, or misunderstood forms—that the system didn’t help prevent or correct.
Many users said they preferred turning to their managers for help with actions that the system was supposed to support, either because the system was too complicated or because they needed an immediate response. This added unnecessary dependency and placed pressure on managers to manually resolve routine issues.
Users also mentioned that the hardest moments were when they needed to do something outside of their daily routine—like submitting a sick leave form or asking for vacation. These flows lacked clarity and often included too many steps, leading to task avoidance or abandonment.
Finally, our research highlighted the wide range of employee types and reporting needs across workplaces, from hourly shift workers to salaried roles. This variation made it clear that a one-size-fits-all solution won’t work, and the system must be flexible enough to adapt while keeping the experience consistent and easy to use.

This emphasized the need to prioritize not just daily flows, but also occasional ones—ensuring they're just as simple, accessible, and self-explanatory.
This highlighted the importance of visibility and clear summaries to help users stay oriented and feel in control of their time

Design Overview

MoneyTime was designed to streamline employee time reporting through clear, task-focused screens. Each screen handles a specific action such as clocking in/out, reporting absences, or viewing payroll—minimizing friction and supporting quick, independent use.
The interface places core daily actions on the home screen, while less frequent flows like leave requests or profile updates are simplified to reduce hesitation. Visual summaries and contextual feedback help users avoid errors, stay informed, and reduce reliance on manager support.
Key FEATURES
All-in-One Employee Overview
Unlike traditional systems that scatter payroll, attendance, and leave data across multiple platforms, MoneyTime brings it all together. This dedicated summary screen gives employees a unified view of their work life: hours logged, expected salary, missing reports, leave balances, and access to past payslips.
By centralizing essential information in one place, the dashboard streamlines routine checks, reduces confusion, and supports independent use.

Smart Notifications for Actionable Tasks
MoneyTime goes beyond static summaries by actively guiding employees through their daily workflows. The system highlights missing time entries, identifies unsubmitted reports, and displays the status of requests within the relevant screens.
Real-time feedback is built directly into the interface, helping users respond promptly, complete tasks on time, and avoid unnecessary delays.
